mwupp-finger-grip-handphone-holder-review

Previously I was using the MWUPP X-grip handphone holder to mount on my motorcycle side mirror. If you have missed reading my review article, you can read about it first here. You can also find the review video at the bottom of the article.

Since that review, more and more handphones have been designed with the volume as well as the on/off button at the side. So using the MWUPP X-grip handphone holder proved to be unsuitable. Thus I have moved to another handphone holder model from MWUPP which is the Finger Grip. Here is what I find after years of using it on my motorcycle and also my ebike at the beginning of 2022.

To cut things short, all MWUPP handphone holders revolve around the same ball-joint mechanism. So all of them have the same joint features like :

  • Rotating from landscape to portrait mode and vice versa
  • Can be turned left or right
  • Can be tilted up or down
  • Can be swung left or right

And all of them will come default with the standard short arm. Unless for whatever reason you prefer a longer arm, you have to purchase it separately here. As for mounts, it comes by default with a mirror mount or a handlebar mount, depending on which one you choose upon purchase. Other mounts would have to be purchased separately here.

Default Handphone Holder Design

Enough sales talk, now let’s get down to business. The MWUPP Finger Grip is designed to be used as seen in the image on the right. I find that in reality is a bit inconvenient.

Each time I would have to either pry and push the handphone in OR pry and pull the handphone out. Requires strength and it’s slow.

Adjustments

I removed the top part. Now I would only have to slide my handphone in and out. Simple and fast, no prying needed. In order for you to do this, the initial assembly needs to be done properly. Watch how I do it in my assembly video here.

PROs

I’ve pretty much mentioned most of the PROs earlier in my article. Other than that is :

  • It’s transferable. Most of the mounts are readily available. You just need to purchase what is needed. Otherwise what you have selected is what you get. Since I no longer have a riding license, I’ve transferred my handphone holder to my ebike. For that, I had to purchase the handlebar mount only.
  • Each part is individually packed. This is good if you intend to resell any unused parts. You can see how it is in my unboxing video here. This is a new set that I bought just for the video.
  • Medium-sized. The MWUPP finger grip doesn’t look bulky or stand out when mounted on the motorcycle or ebike.
  • Durable material and coating. MWUPP handphone holders are made from some form of alloy. Not some form of cheap plastic. Mine was purchased when I was with UberEats and I am still using it today. Just imagine all that exposure to the weather.
  • Vibration resistant. No issue so far reading maps or messages when on the road, even at 100km/h. I wouldn’t give it a 100% but it’s almost there.

CONs

I can’t think much of the CONs except for two.

  • Any default MWUPP handphone holder set is not theft-proof. You would need to purchase the security lock separately and change the default tightening screw.
  • The largest handphone that it could hold is perhaps an iPhone 13 PRO Max. I can’t think of anything smaller than my Xiaomi Redmi 9 for now, but you get my point.

Price

The price may differ between models. But overall I would still say it’s affordable. Compared with what you get is more of the PROs than the CONs. A one-time investment AND a transferable asset, it is worth every penny.

By far this is one of the best handphone holders that I’ve used. Since it’s durable, it definitely saves me money buying replacements. And since I have the security lock in place, helps to deter any attempted theft.

Below are just a few images that I would like to share of my existing MWUPP finger grip handphone holder. Only the handlebar mount is about a year old. The rest are from my motorcycle.
