Check Your Orders Upon Collection
Over the past few weeks, there have been cases that occur during deliveries. One of the most common is the wrong delivery of orders or items. So should you check your orders when you collect them? Or should we leave the responsibility to the merchant or sender?
Different individuals may have different opinions, but for me, I would say yes. Please do check your orders upon collection. As delivery riders or drivers, we are the final barrier for customers to receive their orders properly.
Simple checks such as checking for food or drinks quantity do make a great difference in a smooth delivery process. These checks do not mean physically opening the food packaging. In the event of multiple food items in one pack, a verbal confirmation from the merchant will do. There are repercussions if you fail to do so and I will list them in full detail below.
1. Minimise Wasted Trips
Any delivery rider or driver would want their deliveries to go smoothly. Customers on the other hand would want their food to be delivered in the right quantity and on time.
Although there is an option for a refund, some customers would prefer to have their food instead. If you come across such a customer, you have successfully created for yourself two wasted trips with zero trip fares. So always check your orders!
2. Inconvenience To Other Partners
I had my fair share of this experience during my deliveries. It is ok if you missed an item in your own order but if you had wrongly taken another partner’s order, you are limiting his opportunity of earning an income. As a result, that affected partner may or may not receive the next order.
3. Lower Ratings
Let’s face it, we all want the food that we ordered. Sometimes due to cravings, we just want the correct food to be delivered on time. Frustrations will happen if the food does not get delivered.
This will then result in lower ratings for the rider or driver. When the ratings get lower, the opportunity of earning an income gets delayed. So always check your orders before delivery. A hungry man is always an angry man. Take note of that!
4. Additional Income
Completing your orders diligently does come with rewards. The rewards may come in terms of food, drinks, or tips on top of your trip fare. So always practice diligence in your food deliveries. Don’t slog just for the income, you are just limiting yourself to your income capability. Instead, treat each customer as bringing food to your friends. You’ll be amazed at the outcome.
I hope this article helps shine a light on the rationale and repercussions of checking your orders. It is minor issues like this that disrupt a smooth delivery. So let’s all start practicing our due diligence and earn our income happily together.
See you guys on the road. Ride safe and stay safe!
