Let’s side-track track a bit from the usual and talk about delivery services in general. There are so many on-demand delivery services in Singapore that you simply can’t figure out which one to engage for your delivery.

These companies not only deliver food but almost close to everything. From delivering fragile items to providing movers for relocation services. The three major companies also have a fleet of cars, vans, and lorries at your service.

One of the common names for on-demand delivery is Lalamove. Formerly known as EasyVan, has been going strong even before its rebranding. It is still going strong now.

My experience with this company has been pleasant and I would say that as a delivery rider, the fee per job is slightly higher than any food delivery company. Not only that, the company offers two forms of payment. One is cash by accepting cash jobs and the other is weekly payouts every Wednesday or Thursday*.

What more can you ask for from a delivery company? Let’s go straight to the Pros and Cons of delivering for the company.

Pros

One of the biggest pros about this company, when I joined, is that there are constant orders. The are advance orders usually submitted the day before. And there are current orders which appear in the app when you are near the merchant. Either way, you would go crazy trying to make out which order to engage.

The other factor is that when choosing an order, you would be able to see the location so that you can plan your route more effectively. Each booking comes attached with Google Maps(which is common) so that you can easily navigate to the customer’s location.

Delivery fees are subjected to a small company deduction, but the amount received is still greater than that of any delivery. As for payment of credit jobs, the latest would be by Thursday every week into your designated bank account. No foul-ups in payments so far which is good. Job assignment is based on the nearest rider to the pick-up location. Then the radius will go wider to the next available rider.

There are also benefits in terms of getting jobs for riders who maintain good rapport with their customers. Customers can choose to be a fan of the rider. So in the future, that rider will get the order first before the job goes to other riders. It’s a great way to reward a good rider.

Cons

As a beginner, you would have to study the hotspots where most of the orders are from. New joiners are also required to attend a short onboarding session held at the Lalamove office. This is to ensure that you know the operating procedure and discipline that is expected of every rider on the ground.

Otherwise, there wouldn’t be much of cons about the company. Instead, there’s a lot of fun delivering and meeting new people. So to make this brief, either way, whether you are earning an income to support your family or on a side, you still can make it with Lalamove.

The key factor for any delivery job is yourself. Only you can determine how much you earn. I would say for Lalamove, delivery jobs can start as early as 9 a.m. and end late for certain areas. Anything later than that perhaps is an urgent request from a customer.

So the morale of the story is if you think you are up to it and would like to earn more, Lalamove is one of the companies that I highly encourage you to join. Ratings-wise this company is a whopping 9/10 for me. Oh yes before I forget, they do have incentive schemes too…. 🙂
