Money-making Opportunities Waiting To Be Found
Everybody is constantly finding ways to make money. Albeit whether for rainy days or to make a living. Especially when it comes to living in a country that has high living expenses. Paired with inflation, it is definitely not a good combination.
1. Delivery
One of the current money-making opportunities that is actively being used is doing deliveries. It is legit and if you are willing to work hard enough, the earnings can be substantial. Not only that, if you know the tricks of the trade, it would definitely make things easier. There are also many apps to choose from. One of the apps that I commonly use is Grab. I also have two other apps on standby in case Grab fails. One of them is mentioned early in my blog, that is Lalamove.
As for drivers, due to the rate offered by food delivery companies, I don’t really support drivers going for food deliveries. However, if deliveries are what you prefer, you can try clicking on the link above or go for two more opportunities which I recommend. One is Uparcel, and the other is Amazon Flex. All the apps mentioned offer cluster deliveries which is crucial for drivers in order not to waste petrol.
Previously, as a rider for Lalamove and Uparcel, I used to pick up multiple deliveries as long as the pick-up was along the way. And most importantly, if the time for the job permits. Alternatively, there will be cluster deliveries posted days before. But usually, I’m not that lucky.
Amazon Flex, on the other hand, has routes planned for you. All you need to do is check in, pick up the goods, and start delivering. This platform is more for grocery delivery. Oh yes, before I forget, you need to book your slot in order to get the job. I wasn’t so lucky previously my Amazon Flex account was left dormant.
Van drivers can also apply for all the platforms mentioned. Riders, however, can apply for only Lalamove and Uparcel. Stay active doing deliveries and you might get side projects too.
2. Driving
In Singapore, driving passengers using your own or a rental car requires a private hire license. Alternatively, you can carpool which only allows you to do two trips per day according to LTA regulations.
I don’t have a private hire license so most of the time I would do carpool. Ryde is my preferred platform as it provides bonuses after a certain number of trips. Not much but a little goes a long way. I would also have GrabHitch on standby in case Ryde doesn’t have any trips nearby.
3. Creative
On the other hand, there are also opportunities to make money as a creative. Some of us have a gift of creativity. Designing logos, editing photos, making out-of-this-world creative video transitions, etc.
CLEARLY, I am not but I do use the services on this website to design logos including the logo for TBRC. FYI, most of the users on this website are freelancers. They are either doing it for a living or for earning income on the side. So if you are keen and you have the tools, you can give it a try here.
Be ready to upload some of your work to display on your profile. Original artwork is highly recommended.
4. Stock Photo/Video
Some would say that the market for stock photos or footage has saturated. But I beg to defer. The world keeps evolving so there’s always something new. But before you submit your photos or video footage, there are some criteria that need to be followed.
- There should not be any brands or logos in the photo or footage
- Any person seen in the video or photo must come with a model release
- Any property that is shown in the photo or footage must come with a property release
- The image or footage has to be clear and sharp
- Any submission is subject to the reviewer’s approval
Looks like a ton of info but once you get the hang of it, it’ll be a breeze. There are many stock platforms, two of which I commonly use are Dreamstime and Shutterstock. I find that these two are more forgiving when it comes to submission approval.
Both platforms have a minimum for withdrawal of funds. One more thing to note is that to make a lot, you have to have a lot. So I highly recommend doing this on the side first.
As you can see, there are so many opportunities available. Some of which you may have come across. All you need is to keep searching online. However, do beware of scammy websites though. I had my fair share when I did my search online. Always bear in mind, that other than the delivery apps, most websites mentioned here DO NOT require any payment of any sort.
If a website requires payment, my advice is to forgo that website. Even though they promise you the sky. All they have done is to entice you into giving them their money. Good luck!
