MWUPP Security Lock Installation And Review
Theft of motorcycle parts is very common nowadays within the riding community. These thefts are caused by riders who wish to ride in a style beyond their financial means. Amongst the list of stolen motorcycle parts are shock absorbers, carbon fiber parts, fancy screws, and of course, the handphone holder. Whilst most handphone holders do not have a security feature, companies like MWUPP have an add-on feature called the security lock.
Installing The Security Lock
Attaching the MWUPP security lock is easy. First, you would need the arm of the handphone holder. Hold the arm firmly together. You might want to use 2 rubber bands to hold the 2 pieces of metal plates together. Unscrew the standard head until it comes off.
Replace the screw head with the security lock. Screw the security lock until it holds both plates of the arm together. You’re done!
Use the appropriate mount suitable for your handphone holder. Always ensure that you secure the mount firmly to eg. the side mirror, handlebar, etc. Use the bolts or nuts provided. DO NOT use cable ties to secure the mounts. Cable ties are the easiest to cut off using cutters or scissors.
Once the mount is firmly secured, attach the arm and the handphone holder. Tighten the security lock firmly. Use a little force to put the handphone holder in a lean-back position. This position will obstruct the rotation of the side mirror thus denying the thief of his intention.
Conclusion
The MWUPP security lock is a cheap form of security enhancement. It does help deter theft of the handphone holder. However, the handphone holder could still be stolen by unscrewing it from the side mirror or the handlebar mount. Overall the MWUPP security lock still does its job and it definitely helps in deterring theft. Below is a quick summary of the Pros and Cons of the MWUPP security lock in case you’re considering getting one for yourself.
