The handphone holder is one of the most important gears in a delivery rider’s arsenal. There may be several versions for cars however only a handful is practical for use on motorcycles.
The MWUPP X-grip handphone holder is my first preferred over many. I have tested with handphones ranging from small ones like the Xiaomi Redmi 4A to the heaviest Oukittel K10000.
This handphone holder simply does its job. I would like to inform however should you decide to buy one, look out for only the original. There are other brands that differ in material and design which may not perform the same as the MWUPP.
The original MWUPP handphone holder has the MWUPP logo on all four of the grips as well as its body. See the image below.
Why the MWUPP X-Grip Handphone Holder?
Before I got myself the MWUPP handphone holder, I tried several other types. One model has a bendy thingy(which at first I thought was a strong flexible metal but I was wrong…) connected from the mirror joint to the holder. That model was a joke! I wonder why they came out with that model in the first place.
The initial usage of that model was a good first impression. But after a good month or two, the flexible thingamajig lost its strength and became totally useless. Can’t even hold the handphone firmly to the bike anymore. I got pissed, dismantled the bracket, and threw it away.
Before I took that model, I received a free handphone holder from UberEats which I think most UberEats riders would know what it was. That holder wasn’t practical. It was good though coz it came with a waterproof cover BUT riding with it is a definite NO. If the rider hits a hump on the road, the handphone cover can pop out of its joint socket and you can kiss your handphone goodbye.
I was initially skeptical about the MWUPP X-grip coz there were other models which look similar. However, after some clarification from my riding buddies who are also using the MWUPP X-grip, I got a clearer picture of the original model.
So I got one for myself and since I am riding a Honda Wave, I secured it to my left handlebar using the handlebar mount.
I’ve been using this handphone holder for a while now and I would say it’s impressive for a product that’s made in China. Finally, I have a product that lasts and comes from China.
The handphone holder grips are still strong now. The rubber band which comes with the set, is also still as strong. The holder is adjustable and utilizes a ball head joint instead of permanent joints.
I have so far traveled at 100km/hr without using the rubber band and it could still hold my Xiaomi Redmi 4A. However, for my Outkittel K10000, I feel more secure using the rubber band at the top and bottom. The Oukittel K10000 is after all a bulky and heavy handphone.
Conclusion
I do recommend this model for those who are still looking for a handphone holder OR those who are looking for a replacement for those flimsy models. However, this model is not recommended for handphone models with on/off or volume buttons at the top sides of the handphone. The top grips may interfere with the buttons. Below is a quick summary of the Pros and Cons in case you are considering getting one for yourself.
