The pandemic put a halt to a lot of festive celebrations. The Ramadan bazaar is no exception. As we go into the endemic stage, the government allowed Geylang Serai to resume at a small scale. Kampong Glam then followed at a small scale as well along Bussorah Street.

This year, Bedok joins the list of go-tos for the Ramadan Bazaar. With its theme, Eco Harmony, the bazaar attempts to harness solar energy to partially provide power to run the bazaar. The solar panels are on top of the Greenspace container office located at the entrance of the bazaar.

Ramadan Bazaar Bedok Location

The bazaar is indicated on the map with a red star. You can reach the location via the modes below.

  1. On Foot: The nearest MRT station is Bedok. Use exit B and follow the direction of the traffic until you see blk 221 then turn left. You should be able to see the significant white tentages of the bazaar after you make the turn.
  2. Riding/Driving: The nearest highway is PIE. Use Exit 6 and turn into Bedok North Avenue 3. DO NOT turn towards Bedok Reservoir Road. Follow Bedok North Avenue 3 until you see Blk 131. For easier navigation, drive/ride along Bedok North Avenue 3 until you can see the MRT line. You should be able to see the white tentages of the bazaar on the left. Alternatively, you can choose to follow New Upper Changi Road and exit into Bedok Central which would lead you the the nearest two carparks.

Alternative Route: Drive/Ride along Bedok North Avenue 3 then turn left into Bedok North Street 2 after passing the first traffic junction. This will bring you to the back of the Ramadan Bazaar. HOWEVER, parking spaces may be limited.

Parking Near Bedok Ramadan Bazaar

There are two multi-storey carparks available near the Ramadan Bazaar in Bedok. Nearest is at Blk 220 and the other is at Blk 215A. Both carparks are located along Bedok Central. Park there and walk less than 5 minutes to the bazaar.

TRY NOT to attempt to park at Blk 131, 133, 132, and 130 as parking lots may be limited. There may be season(RED) lots, so avoid giving away your angpows in advance. In the form of parking tickets, I mean.

Prayer Friendly

For the benefit of our Muslim brothers and sisters, the Ramadan Bazaar in Bedok does come with a Musollah, more commonly known as a prayer room. It is located beside the main stage, or in front of the kid’s zone. The Musollah is divided into two sections, the men’s and the women’s prayer area.

The entry for the men’s prayer area is along the path to the kid’s zone. There’s a sign on the canvas indicating it’s the men’s area.

The entry to the women’s prayer area is located at the rear of the tent and alongside the construction fence.

As for taking your ablution, there is a designated ablution area at the nearby tent. For women’s would be covered in canvas and for men, would be in the open. See below.

Makan Stalls And Eating Places

The one thing everyone can agree about for going to the bazaar is FOOD! Stalls selling street foods start from the side of the main entrance and cover almost half of the Ramadan Bazaar. A lot of seats for you to enjoy your food. Or break your fast in the open beneath the stars. Below are just a few snapshots of the foodie area.

Kid’s Zone

Next up is the kiddie area. Fun rides on the train, hamster ball, and merry-go-round are just a few of the entertainment available for your kids. A great way to reward your kid after a day of fasting. See what’s available below.

Marketplace

Then what’s a bazaar without a marketplace? When you enter the main entrance, you will be immediately connected to the marketplace. There are booths available that are tended by vendors from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore.

Although the theme is Eco Harmony, the items sold at the marketplace may support either one of the theme words, “Eco” or “Harmony”. The booths will start from the main entrance and go all the way to the back of the Ramadan Bazaar.

At the time of my visit, the Ramadan Bazaar is still in the process of setting up. Thus you may see more than half of the bazaar is still very empty. However, approaching the actual launch date, 9 March 2024, the bazaar is expected to be fully set up and ready for the fasting month. Not to mention my arrival was also before noon, so not many food stalls are open yet.

Event Area

Last but not least is of course the center stage. That’s where all the action will take place. So far I have not been informed of any shows that are coming up during the fasting month. But if I do receive any information from the event planners, I will of course inform everyone through my YouTube channel or Instagram. So be sure to “Follow” or “Subscribe” to any one of them.

It is almost a week now from my last visit so more stalls would have opened for business. With that said, I would still recommend going to the Ramadan Bazaar after 2 pm. That way you will have more options of food to choose from.

During my visit, I managed to get some food from three stalls that opened early. I will share more on the food in my coming article. For now, I can’t wait for my next visit to the Ramadan Bazaar in Bedok, to see it in full force.

Hope my article has been helpful! See you guys in my next article!
