As delivery riders, we often need to remain contactable in case of any last-minute redirection or changes to the delivery schedule. To make it worst, the laws in Singapore and perhaps certain parts of the world do not allow the usage of handphones whilst on the road. So how do we, as delivery riders, answer calls whilst riding or at a traffic junction without breaking the law?
One common practice by many is to use the wired earpiece and wear it in our helmets. I’m fine with using the wired earpiece however when it comes to the new wired ear studs, it can get pretty uncomfortable. Another issue I faced is often the wires would get tangled thus obstructing my riding.
So I stopped using the wired earpiece totally. Instead, I got a thigh pouch to keep my handphone as close as possible to my ear. That solved the issue of hearing notifications but does not solve the issue of answering calls whilst on the road. I would still have to stop by the side of the road to answer calls. And sometimes due to high traffic, communications is not clear at all.
I started searching and tried using the conventional Bluetooth earpiece meant for driving. Even if I managed to fit it into my helmet, I still could not answer calls. I continued searching until I came across the Vimoto V6 Helmet Bluetooth Headset.

I was skeptical at first but after reading the specs, I decided to give it a try. I am glad to say that there are no regrets about making the purchase. In fact, I plan to get another one for my pillion helmet since it allows intercom between the pillion and rider.
In the image above is the Vimoto V6 Helmet Bluetooth Headset that’s currently attached to my helmet. The only Cons about it are only the mounting as it uses velcro stickers which is not a good idea at all. They are labeled 3M but don’t stick at all onto my glossy helmet surface. So I countered this issue by using super glue instead just to mount the dock(the black lower bar which has the Vimoto name) onto my helmet.
One advantage that I like is that the Bluetooth (the white piece with the number 6 on it) is detachable. This makes it easier to recharge the battery. The battery lifespan is awesome which could last 1 and a half days on a full charge (this is because I forgot to turn it off and left it in my bike box until the following day).
Upon purchase, the set comes with two different mics. A wired mic (for full-faced helmets) whereas the other is the boom mic as seen in the image below. The mic and the speakers are attached inside my helmet using 3M velcro stickies which last until now. The boom mic can be rotated upwards if not in use.
Sound quality from the two speakers(left and right) is like having a home theatre system in your helmet. Now that I mention, yes you can play your favorite songs via Bluetooth from your handphone. Voice clarity from the mic whilst riding, as many of my callers’ feedback, is very clear. I guess this is due to the wind muffler(black sponge) on the mic.
Fyi, two pieces of wind muffler are provided in the box upon purchase. I guess this is in case you are hungry on the road and happen to eat one, then you have another one as a replacement lol….just kidding.
Overall I’m satisfied with my purchase. The Vimoto V6 Helmet Bluetooth Headset has been through several weather conditions, including a heavy downpour, and it still functions. Oh yes last but not least, the Vimoto V6 charges quite fast and uses a mini USB port(typical Samsung charger) however it doesn’t come with an adapter though.
Highly recommend the purchase of this set if you are looking for an affordable helmet Bluetooth headset for yourself. Below is a quick run-through of the Pros and Cons if you are considering buying one for yourself.
